Named after the Amazon river it is perhaps ironic that no deposits of Amazonite have ever been found there. Perhaps it is due to the colour; an attractive sea-foam green colour that looks great set in silver and co-ordinates with so many other colours. The material I have is lightly mottled with white, due to the lead present in the stone. It's Brazilian in origin and is has a great polish contributing to a nice vitreous sheen. It's part of the Feldspar family, along with labradorite and moonstone.
